Options of Power Saving in Data Centers...more |
Energy conservation has become an increasingly important imperative in the last two years, especially for large data centers. Qimonda has played an important role in establishing DDR2 memory options that help server companies save substantial power over the lifetime of an installed server. Cost of Ownership will continue to drive this trend in 2008 and will demand power- efficient solutions for DDR3. DRAM solutions providers like Qimonda are able to offer various solutions for this trend. |

DRAM Future Outlook: A Battle for Survival or for Profit?...more |
This session will start with a few hot topics that have been creating buzz in the DRAM industry. For instance, the current state, product mix and possible future change of global 8” facilities, DRAM makers’ technology roadmap, and DRAM industry consolidation are among many of the issues to be explored. In addition, this important session, through the capex, revenue, cash in hand, and market share of a few primary DRAM makers, will reveal analyses on the current market condition of DRAM manufacturers, the historical price trend of DRAM, as well as the overall future outlook of this industry. |

New SSDs on the way...more |
This presentation will focus on SSD as the storage solution for the Mobile PC market. It will show the paradigm shift from HDD to SSD already being endorsed today and will address the requirements and needs of SSD that will make this market a true reality over the next three years. The presentation will examine the end-user requirements for maximizing SSD value in portable PCs. It will then discuss the necessary ecosystem development and the core competencies required of SSD manufactures to drive this market. The presentation will explain how the SSD challenges will be best addressed by vertical integration from FAB to OEM; in addition, it will also tackle the issue of current SSD cost as the main hurdle that will be overcome to enable widespread adoption. |

The technical challenge for flash controller makers to develop MLC-based SSD solution...more |
All major notebook makers look for a true PC-experienced and no-compromised MLC-based SSD solution to replace HDD. The design consideration and domain know-how are quite different between flash memory card controller and SSD controller. This session will explore areas to which controller companies should pay attention in order to overcome some fundamental issues of MLC and to deliver a solid SSD solution in performance, endurance, power safe, compatibility, as well as manufacture process. |

Future Outlook of HDD and SSD market....more |
The latest storage trend, according to Robert Chu, Vice President Asia Pacific, Hitachi GST, SSDs and HDDs will co-exist in the market.
HDDs deliver lower price points, better performance, and higher level of security than what is offered by solid-state drivers (SSDs) which are still in its nascent stage of development. "Traditional drives, particularly the bulk-data encryption in our drives, provide global data security that SSDs don't have. SSD is at the low-capacity end and hard drives are at the high-capacity end. In fact, with the proliferation of handheld entertainment devices using SSD, the volume of digital media increases. Users will want to consolidate and backup this data—and that will happen on hard drives.
We also see very high interest in high-definition content programming as broadcasters and consumers migrate from standard analog TV to HDTV transmission. It plays well with our technology offering such as the 1Tbyte drive, which is suitable for recording HD content. |

Opportunities and Challenges in the NAND Flash industry...more |
As the applications of NAND Flash continue to advance and evolve, our need for more NAND Flash in the near future will definitely keep on increasing. However, the pricing of NAND Flash fluctuates rather drastically – and sometimes unpredictably! At DRAMeXchange Compuforum 2008, we will take this opportunity to share our views on the NAND Flash market with our forum participants by exploring relevant topics surrounding this dynamic market of NAND Flash: the development of NAND Flash manufacturers, an outlook on the future trend and technology challenge of NAND Flash, and some new application opportunities of NAND Flash, etc. |
