Dr. C. L. Liu received his Sc.D. degree (1962) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was on the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1962-72) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1972-98), and served as President and Professor of Computer Science at the National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan from 1998 to 2002.
In addition, he serves as Board member and consultant at a number of high tech companies in Taiwan, and is active in educational as well as charitable services on a worldwide basis. His expertise is in the semiconductor area, particularly in the design and manufacturing aspects.

Dr. Chuong Tran has extensive educational and professional experience, including nearly fifteen years of working experience, in the field of optoelectronics.
Dr. Tran joined Emcore in 1993 as a senior Technical Staff member and became one of the key members of the team that developed the first commercial reactor for InGaN LED. Yi-Jen Chan is the VP & EOL General Director, ITRI and also a distinguished professor at the dept. of E. E. at National Central University.
He received his B.S.E.E degree from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, the M.S.E.E degree from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, and the Ph.D degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1982, 1984, and 1992 respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Central University, Chungli, Taiwan, as an Associate Professor in 1992, and became a Professor in 1996, and served as the Department Chair from 1998 to 2001. Since Dec. 2004, he joined the Electronics & Optoelectronics Laboratories (EOL), Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), as a Deputy General Director and was promoted to be the general director of EOL from July 2007.
He received Science Paper Award of Far Eastern Y. Z. Hsu Science and Technology Memorial Foundation in 2006. He has over 100 technical journal papers and 18 patents.
Currently he is responsible for flexible electronics, nano-electronics, ACLED and optoelectronics programs in the ITRI.

Dr. Kuo-hsin Huang, got a Ph.D. degree from Northwest Univ., USA. Before his graduation, Dr. Huang got the first place of Doctor’s thesis award of Mid-western Universities in the USA. Dr. Huang had worked on MOCVD technology since his study at Northwest Univ. and his R&D work at Hewlett Packard. Among his employment with HP, he got several patents in MOVPE for HP.
In 1993, Dr. Huang returned to Taiwan to set up his first company called United Epitaxy Company (in short UEC) at Hsinchu Science Park. Dr. Huang was the first Chinese who build up MOCVD technology in Asian Area. UEC went public in 1997. Dr. Huang had been the Chairman of UEC for 13 years. Under Dr. Huang’s leading, UEC once was the 2nd largest AlInGaP dice (yellow and red LED dice) supplier, next to Lumileds, in the world. UEC was merged by Epi Star in 2005.
In the last 15 years in Taiwan, besides UEC, Dr. Huang also set up couple companies in opto-electronics fields, such as EOI (LED application), LTI (OLED), Super Bright Opto. (LED packaging) and High Power Opto. (LED wafer and dices).
Dr. Huang got awards from Taiwan Government as a Distinguished Enterprise, Special Contribution to High Technology, and Distinguished Alumna from National Ching-hua University.
