Bio:

Eric C. M. Hao is the Project Manager of CIPO, Color Image Industry Promotion Office, of Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA Taiwan, and in charge of Policy Consultation, Company Problem Shooting, and Industrial Image Promotion in CIPO.

In 2002, Eric entered ERSO/ITRI and joined an industrial promotion project team named CIPO. In 2005, Eric had a short private company interlude of Inventec and served as the IP Manager. After moving back CIPO in the late 2005, Eric was assigned as the CIPO team leader and has kept serving Taiwan government and FPD industry.

Eric received his EE bachelor and MBA master degree in Chung Yuan Christian University and is still working on his Business Management PhD degree in Nankai University.

Bio: Koya Tabata completed a graduate program at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1999 with an MA in Engineering. He then joined Goldman Sachs and for five years was part of its research department's technology team. After a stint with the consumer electronics/electronic components team, Mr. Tabata moved to the Pan-Asia technology research team, and covered the display and battery industries. He joined Credit Suisse in August 2004.

Bio:

Dr. C. L. Liu received his Sc.D. degree (1962) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was on the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1962-72) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1972-98), and served as President and Professor of Computer Science at the National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan from 1998 to 2002.

He is currently also the Chairman of WitsView Tech. Corp. In addition, he serves as Board member and consultant at a number of high tech companies in Taiwan, and is active in educational as well as charitable services on a worldwide basis. His expertise is in the semiconductor area, particularly in the design and manufacturing aspects.

He is a member of Acdemia Sinica, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Bio: Mr. Paul Peng currently heads the Information Technology Display Business Group of AUO, overseeing the Desktop Display, Notebook PC Display and General Display business units. In 2002, Peng was named General Manager of AUO's SuZhou module plant where he successfully and efficiently set up the plant and had it running smoothly within a duration. Prior to joining AUO, Peng worked as Manager of material and production department at BenQ's Malaysia branch. Peng holds an MBA Degree from Heriot-Watt University, U.K .

Bio:

Alan Eusden joined Corning in 1983 as a financial analyst in the Electronics Division. In 1984, he joined the Telecommunications Products Division as assistant plant controller and then plant controller at the Wilmington, N.C., plant. In 1987, he moved to Corning, N.Y., as TPD’s manager of Manufacturing Control and Analysis.

Eusden moved to the Specialty Materials Manufacturing Division in 1990 as division controller. In 1992 he was appointed director of Finance and Control for the Specialty Materials Sector. At the end of 1994, Eusden relocated to Germany as the general manager of Corning GmbH, including markets in Europe, Russia, South America, Africa and the Middle East.

In April 1998, Eusden was appointed division vice president and deputy general manager of the Telecommunications Products Division and in September 1998 he was appointed division vice president and general manager, TPD. He was elected vice president and general manager, Optical Fiber in January 1999. In December 2002, he was appointed to senior vice president and general manager, Optical Fiber, senior vice president Global Business Support Services in April 2002. In 2005, he was appointed senior vice president, Corning Shared Services and Finance Strategy.

In January 2007, Eusden was appointed to his current position as president, Corning Display Technologies Taiwan.

Eusden holds a bachelor’s degree in economics with a concentration in environmental studies from Williams College and a master’s degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He is a member of several community and business organizations.

Bio:

Dr. Anthony Simon is the Vice President of Marketing for Pixelworks, Inc., a leading semiconductor company specializing in solutions for digital display applications. Dr. Simon manages the specification and road map for Pixelworks' products targeting the projector, FPD and LCD Panel markets.

Prior to this position, Dr. Simon served as the Managing Director for Pixelworks Japan in charge of engineering and sales efforts for Japanese customers.

During his career, Dr. Simon has served in various management and marketing positions for Conexant Systems as well as VLSI Technology in the DTV and Set Top Box markets. Dr. Simon has written two books on the semiconductor industry entitled Introduction to Semiconductor Marketing and The COT Planning Guide. Dr. Simon holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and advanced degrees in economics and political science. He speaks Hungarian, French and Japanese and is currently based in Tokyo, Japan.

Bio:

Dr. Frank (Fu-Jen) Ko is currently Director & GM of TV Display Business Unit of AUO, and in charge of TV Business, Marketing and Engineering Service in AUO.

In 2000, Ko joined Unipac Optoelectronics and was responsible for the technology development. After AUO founded in 2001, Ko was named Manager of Cell Integration department and later promoted to Director of TV BU Marketing Division in 2003.

Ko received his master and PhD Degree in Photonics from National Chiao Tung University in 2000 and a degree in Electro Physics in 1995.

James Yang is the GM of the IT product Business Division, Chi-Mei Optoelectronics. He majored in physics & chemistry catalysis materials and obtained his master degree in chemical engineering, National Central University in 1992. He has made many efforts at global activities of products and market development of Information Technology Liquid Crystal Display (IT LCD) and was promoted from PM, Manager to the Director of IT product line Business Division. Recently, under his leadership successful team, CMO’s IT panel business and Medical Application & Special Application panel business, becomes one of the top suppliers in the world and plays an important role in the TFT-LCD industry.

Bio:

In 2003~2004, I worked at the Small & Medium sized panel R&D division, where I was mainly responsible in the panel design. I also participated in CPT's 1st 7" product development, along with its subsequent mass production process.

In 2005, I left the R&D division in becoming the PM of CPT's Small & Medium PM/FAE team in which I helped establish.

I currently lead the PM/FAE/Product engineering/Application engineering team; where I am in charge of all the Small & Medium TFT LCD product planning, development and customer technology support.

In the past few years, CPT has set up a very complete product line in the Small & Medium sized category. Covering the 1.5"~10.2" size range, they can be used in various types of Consumer-Electronics applications.

Bio:

Ms. Debby Liao joined Corning Display Technologies Taiwan in 2002 as a Product Engineer responsible for customer technical problem solving and new product design-in.

In 2004 Debby assumed the role of Technical Assistant Manager with responsibilities for understanding customer requirements of TFT-LCD glass attributes, technical problem solving and technical services for customers, as well as conducting glass-related technical trainings or presentations for customers.

In November 2005, she was promoted to her current position of Project Manager, Product Engineering Department of Corning Display Technologies Taiwan, with more focus on future glass requirements from advanced display product and process technologies.

Debby received her Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University, and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University. Before Joining Corning, Debby worked in semiconductor industries as Photo Process Engineer and Array Integration Engineer.

Topic: Trend of Key Materials in LCD TV: Liquid Crystals
Bio:

Dr. Verrall is currently R&D Director for Merck Display Technologies, located in Merck's new "Liquid Crystal Center Taiwan" in Taoyuan County.

He joined Merck's UK Research and Development team in 1990 and since then gained more than 17 years experience in development of Liquid Crystal Display products. During this time Dr. Verrall pioneered many novel technologies including new LC materials, new display modes, and optical compensation films from coated reactive liquid crystals.

Dr. Verrall moved to Taiwan in 2004 as R&D director in Merck's former "Advanced Coatings Business Unit", developing fine optical and functional glass coatings including colour filters and ITO for the passive matrix LCD market. He transferred to his current position at the start of 2007, where he is now responsible for developing Merck's new LC mixtures for the rapidly growing Taiwanese LCD industry.

Bio: Jia-Xing Lin is a program deputy manager of ITRI/DTC. He was awarded a master degree on material science and engineering from National Chiao Tung University in 1999. He is now involved in market and application analysis of flexible display technology.

Dr. Pan has been working in the backlight industry for 9 years. He is an executive director, currently heading the Material Business Unit and the Technologies Center of Forhouse Corporation. His employer, Forhouse Corporation is one of the leading backlight makers and light guide material manufacturer.

Forhouse is a vertically integrated manufacturer, with precision tooling, plastic injection molding, plastic sheet extrusion, and various processing and assembly facilities. Furthermore, Forhouse adopted a backward integration strategy in including optical raw material manufacturing via a joint venture operation of Degussa Forhouse Optical Polymer Corporation. Forhouse is a company owning optical, mechanical, electrical and material technologies.

Bio:

Folkert Bölger is Vice President Purchasing Philips Consumer Electronics, responsible for all sourcing activities of the Business Group Connected Displays.

He worked 9 years in the car-infotainment industry where he worked for Philips and a few years for Siemens –VDO; covering manufacturing, logistics and purchasing in France, Hungary, Germany. He gained experience in Consumer Electronics within Audio stationed in Belgium and Hong Kong.

He moved from Eindhoven TV- HQ to Taiwan 9 months ago to be closer to the panel, OEM and ROM supply base.

Folkert is fluent in Dutch, English, German and French and holds a master degree in Industrial Engineering from Delft University and is certified in Production and Inventory Management.

Bio:

Pieter Dekker has a long standing experience in the TV business. He entered the field when Color TV was well established as a main stream category and additional uses like Teletext and Remote Control where under implementation. He has managed the development of virtually any specification in the CRT space, which also includes the double frame rate. When the LCD monitor was gearing up to become a commercial success in the late nineties; he took the initiative in converting this novel device into a TV. Dr Dekker has worked for IBM, Philips Sound Systems, and Philips TV, and is now a Vice President in the TPV Technology Group. A born Dutchman, his career took him to the USA, Europe and to Asia, where for over 6 years he has been living and working in Taiwan.

Fikri Ozdemir has a long experience in the durable goods sector. He is currently managing electronics and display business fields in Arcelik - Beko Company.

Being a member of KOC Holding, Arcelik is the biggest home appliances manufacturer in Turkey and among top 3 manufacturers in Europe producing washing machines, dishwashers , ovens, refrigerators. It has acquired Beko Electronics in 2006 and now also producing televisions, audio, video products as well.

Bio:

Mr. Li, founder/director of Syntax-Brillian, is responsible for the company's global LCD TV business development and management. Mr. Li is credited with extensive experience in building organizations from the ground up to become profitable, thriving entities. From his extensive international experience, Mr. Li pioneered a strategic alliance with Senna Group, a prestigious business conglomerate in Brazil, to form a joint venture company called “Olevia Senna do Brasil” that will accelerate the expansion of Olevia LCD TVs into Brazil and Latin America. He also negotiated a strategic partnership with China South Industries Group Corporation [‘China South'], a state-owned enterprise directly under the administration of China's Central Government. This alliance established the joint venture company Sino-Brillian Display Technology Corporation that will produce LCoS-based light engines for local and international TV makers.

Commencing his career with Gateway, where he was Senior Business Manager in the Global Procurement Office, Mr. Li has extensive experience in sales, operations, management and manufacturing in the IT and retail PC industries. Prior to Syntax-Brillian, he was Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO of Elitegroup Computer Systems, as well as Director of ECS' OEM/ODM Business. Also at ECS, Mr. Li established and developed the Latin America market, growing its motherboard and notebook sales business to $180 million per year. Mr. Li is on the Board of Directors of DigiMedia Technology Company, the joint venture formed in Taiwan by Syntax Groups and Taiwan Kolin Company, and Sino-Brillian Display Technology Corporation. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English and international business from Christ's College in Taiwan and a Bachelor of Arts degree in clinical psychology and religion from Northwestern College.

Bio: Mr. Vaghul has over 22 years of Multimedia and Semiconductor experience. He joined Pixelworks in 2005 as a part of Pixelworks acquisition of Equator Technologies, a semiconductor company developing programmable ICs based on VLIW technology for the IPTV and Security and Surveillance market. From 2003 to 2005, prior to joining Equator, Mr. Vaghul was a Sr. Engineering Manager at Midstream Technologies which developed high performance Video-on-Demand (VOD) servers for cable companies. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Vaghul headed up ensid Corp., a startup that developed a platform and service for programming-on-demand (POD) working closely with digital set top box vendors and content providers. Mr. Vaghul spent 14+ years at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in a variety of engineering and management roles, mostly in their VAX and ALPHA workstations group. Mr. Vaghul holds a MS from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a BS from College of Engineering, Pune, India.

Topic: Home Display Development Trend under the 3C convergence
Bio: Jim Chen joined Proview Electronics as a PM in 2003, and was later promoted to AVP of the company's R&D Division in 2004. He initially led the R&D team in the development of monitors and TVs, but is now mainly focused in monitor related products. Proview is the worldwide major manufacturer of monitors and TVs. He worked at CPT from 1995 to 2001, where he was in charge of the mechanical design & material group of the CRT R&D division. He also owns a one-year experience in the mechanical design of notebooks. For the past 10 years, he has devoted much of his time and expertise to the display application field.

Topic: Development Status of the Digitization in Global TV Broadcasting
Bio: Ms. Francesca W.H. Lai received her master degree from the graduate school of University of Wisconsin-Madison, U.S.A. She has worked for different TV stations as a news and program producer and director between 1991 and 1999. Later she joined an internet service provider, being in charge of broadband content service and live web streaming service as well as a government-funded mobile internet project. In 2002 she has joined PTS as a researcher with a focus on digital television development, digital converged services, and most notably, mobile TV service and its business model. In last two years Ms. Francesca held a series of DVB-H workshops and an international Mobile TV & Broadcast Transmission Conference. Working with internal staff, she has also successfully composed a mobile TV consortium with the local industry players and to have acquired a trial license in 2006.
